Witham is a fictious ‘OO’ gauge layout set in the geographical area of Witham in Somerset during the summer period of the late 1950s and early 1960s, seeing the twilight of the steam era and the dawn of the new diesel era.

The layout is based on a secondary main line for traffic running from London to Exeter and beyond plus there is also a branch line running up to Wells and on to Bristol. Western Region locomotives and rolling stock dominate the scene, but the Southern Region also use the route along with visiting inter-regional specials taking holiday makers to and from the West Country.

Witham is a DCC layout and the majority of locomotives are DCC sound fitted. As an operating team we try and ensure that there is always something running to keep the viewing public entertained, so please come and view Witham and watch the trains go by.

This is Martin’s first layout since taking up the hobby again on retirement after a layoff from railway modelling of over 40 years. From original concept to a completed exhibition capable layout was four years and Witham will soon be featuring in the pages of Hornby Magazine and online on KeyModelWorld.
