1/48 scale models
1/48 scale is the ideal half-way house between ensuring really great detail, and finished models that aren't too big for display. The choice is myriad, with almost all major kit manufacturers producing quality items in this scale.
FLOGGER BOOTS
Whether it is Trumpeter’s original MiG-23BN release or Eduard’s re-boxing, this resin and photo-etched (PE) brass product offers a significant upgrade to the kit’s styrene wheels and undercarriage doors.
HEAT-SEEKING AIR-TO-AIRS
Suitable for adding ordnance to 1/48 models of RAF Typhoons, Harrier GR.9s, Tornado GR.4s, RAF/RN F-35s, Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18s and Indian Air Force Jaguars, this pair of AIM-132 ASRAAM (Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile) is from Eduard’s Brassin range.
FLAT IRON SPECIAL

KAMIKAZE TRAINER
Brengun has continued its fascinating range of quarter-scale Ohka flying bombs with the two-seat Kai variant, which was used as a trainer.
HIGH-FLIER

IMPORTED FULCRUMS
The Polish Air Force has operated Mikoyan MiG-29s (NATO reporting name Fulcrum) since 1989.
'LAWN DART' LIVERIES
Several of the schemes depicted in Xtradecal’s 1/48 Lockheed F-104 Starfighter Collection Part Two are ‘upscaled’ versions of those included in its 1/72 version (see April 2020, p.89), but this also means the superb quality is retained.
STORMING WELLS
Those unsatisfied with the refinement in Airfix’s Sea Fury will find plenty to savour in Barracuda’s gorgeous resin upgrades, notably those for the undercarriage bays.
