Using Revell’s 1/48 Eurofighter kit, Chris Jones builds Typhoon ZK340 – the aircraft in which Roger Cruickshank won the Distinguished Flying Cross on Operation Shader.
Having first encountered Sqn Ldr Roger Cruickshank’s story online around two years ago, the account of his flying experiences, recovery from serious physical injuries, tragic loss of his mother and subsequent campaign to raise mental health awareness really resonated with me.
I know that both myself, and people close to me have struggled and continue to struggle with our mental health, but Roger’s honesty about his experiences was so encouraging it was decided to share his story in AMW, alongside a model build of his aircraft.
Bronze boxing
Revell’s 1/48 Eurofighter Typhoon was first released in 2006, with an impressive decal sheet featuring multiple nations’ aircraft and a wide selection of ordnance; however, this original boxing has become rather rare since then. The good news is that Revell has reissued the kit (including the phenomenal weapons selection), but with just a single decaling choice.
