Ticket sales open for the Great Electric Train Show 2023

Discounted advance tickets for the 2023 Great Electric Train Show are on sale now and the first layouts for this year’s line-up have been revealed.

Tickets are on sale now for the 2023 Great Electric Train Show which takes place at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes on the weekend of October 14/15 2023.

This year’s event – the 10th anniversary of the Great Electric Train Show - is set to feature 30 layouts, more than 45 trade stands, demonstrations, a free shuttle bus service from Milton Keynes Central railway station and free parking. The headline layout will be one of the biggest ever ‘OO’ gauge portable layouts – Pete Waterman’s Making Tracks 3 layout.

Above: Pete Waterman and the Railnuts group will be exhibiting their biggest ‘OO’ gauge layout ever – a 152ft layout combining all three Making Tracks layouts from 2021-2023. On Making Tracks 2, a Class 87 heads south at Hillmorton Junction. Mike Wild.

Making Tracks 3 is under construction for display in Chester Cathedral from July 26-September 3 and is a scale model of Milton Keynes Central station. For the 2023 Great Electric Train Show, all three Making Tracks layouts will be joined together to create a single 152ft long ‘OO’ gauge layout combining Watford Tunnel, North Church Tunnel, Tring Cutting, Milton Keynes Central station and Hillmorton Junction. The October event will be the first time all three layouts have been combined.

Hornby Magazine Publisher Mike Wild said: “We are pulling all the stops out to make this huge layout possible and working closely with Pete and the Railnuts group to bring it to the Great Electric Train Show. We are all very excited to see the completed layout together especially with Milton Keynes Central station as its centrepiece.”

Layouts large and small will be joining the Making Tracks layout with the first to be revealed being the East of Scotland 4mm Group’s Burntisland (see feature on pages 66-73), Neil Woodbine’s Rosebury Goods (HM179) and Hornby Magazine’s new diesel depot layout - full feature and video series coming soon.
