Product Manager Steve Nicholls recently visited Didcot Railway Centre to compare the current state of the model against the resident prototype locomotive 7808 Cookham Manor, which was scanned back in 2019 as the basis of the project.

Steve outlines some of the challenges faced when producing Accurascale's first steam locomotive and covers the feature-rich aspects of the model.

Like all new models, adjustments are part of the process and the 'Manor' project is no exception. Originally spec'd with a 21-pin decoder the manufacturer will now change to a Next 18 decoder to allow for more room for a stay-alive capacitor in the tender. Other changes will see improvements to the firebox flicker, cosmetic changes to improve the surface finish of the model and rerouting of wires to cater for a cleaner look.

Accurascale is also producing Key Publishing's limited edition model of 7802 Bradley Manor for 'OO' which is available to pre-order from shop.keypublishing.com now.
