The popular PCA cement wagons from Accurascale for ‘OO’ gauge are back for a second outing in original and current Castle Cement liveries. We take a closer look at this new batch.
NEW IN from Accurascale is its eagerly anticipated second production run for the PCA cement wagons. These attractive vehicles were introduced in 1982 to diagram PC017B with a total of 50 being built by CFMF in France and followed by a further batch of 15 wagons in 1985 to design code PC017C which were built by Fauvet-Girel.
On introduction these PCAs were split between Blue Circle and Rugby Cement traffic on lease while today the full fleet is operated on lease by Hanson Cement which now owns Castle Cement.
The first release of these PCAs by Accurascale offered ‘OO’ gauge modellers a choice of Rugby Cement, STS dark grey and Castle Cement vehicles in 2019 (HM144) while this second batch focuses specifically on the Castle Cement branded wagons. Two variations are available on this livery – original Castle Cement with red lettering and the current style with black lettering and a red castle logo.
