Peter Castle’s Airscale firm has been producing highly useful kit improvement products for several years. It’s latest item is sure to excite anyone with Airfix’s new 1/24 Spitfire Mk.IXc on their build list.
Set PE24 MKIX offers a highly detailed layered instrument panel in nickel silver (with sharply printed waterslide dial decals), plus cockpit sidewall decals, a landing gear quadrant and other items. There’s also a full PE frame/head armour arrangement for placement behind the seat. The detail is exquisite, with appropriate depth where necessary.

While the kit parts are impressive, styrene can almost never really compete with PE for sharpness. Here that’s brought into sharp focus and the upgrade should delight anyone wanting to improve on what’s provided in the Airfix box. The set costs £20.95 direct from Airscale.
