Bachmann has received first Engineering Prototype (EP) samples of its newly-tooled 'OO' gauge BR Class 25/1 and 25/2 Bo-Bo diesels for assessment by the development team.

Introduced in the 1960s, more than 300 locomotives were built by Beyer, Peacock and Company and BR’s Crewe, Darlington and Derby Works, covering several sub-classes.

Bachmann’s all-new ‘OO’ gauge models are set to incorporate detail differences between the Class 25/1 and 25/2 body styles and will feature a wealth of separately applied detailing including metal handrails, etched metal radiator grilles, windscreen wipers, sprung metal Oleo buffers, flush glazing, buffer beam detailing, intricately detailed bogies and underframes, plus a factory-fitted speaker for digital sound installations.

Two models form the initial releases as Class 25/1 25057 in weathered BR blue (Cat No. 32-340) and Class 25/2 D5282 in BR two-tone green with small yellow warning panels (32-341).

Prices have yet to be confirmed, but release is currently scheduled for 2023.
