Maritime specialist Atlantic Models has released a crop of handy upgrades for your 1/350 and 1/700 modern Royal Navy ship kits.
UK-based maritime kit and aftermarket specialist Atlantic Models has recently released two upgrade packs for Trumpeter and Dragon/Revell 1/700 scale ships plus three decal sheets for 1/350 subjects.
We’ll start with the upgrades, which are both supplied as photo-etched (PE) brass frets. The first is ATEM 70007, designed for Trumpeter’s 1/700 Type 23 Frigate and addresses the kit’s baffling omission of PE features – such as railings and safety nets – despite having its own PE fret.
Some items are de-rigeur for Atlantic, with deck railings and ladders plus helicopter and gun safety nets. Note, the nets are depicted in the deployed (horizontal) position, but Atlantic provides guidance on how these can be re-worked to show them raised.
The remaining items do much to augment and improve the ‘clutter’ present on a modern warship, from radar bases and mounts to RGM-84 Harpoon launch racks and a multitude of antennas.
