The railways of Cornwall in the 1990s were the inspiration for DANIEL HARRIS to build this compact and attractive ‘N’ gauge layout which could easily fit in a typical home environment. Dan explains how it was built.

AS THE LAYOUT’S NAME suggests, Boscawen Junction is set in the West Country. The initial idea was to model the Cornish main line in as small a space as possible without compromising too much on scale realism, while the period from 1985 to 1995 was chosen because of the variety of liveries during the transition from BR blue to the sector liveries. My friend Chris Smout and I teamed up to build the layout, although due to space and work commitments, it was completed by me.
We decided on a junction based on Burngullow, which was to include a cement distribution depot like that at Chacewater to create added interest. The disused station at this location was also selected as we had not seen that modelled often.…
