Publisher Luftfahrtverlag-START has produced a simply stunning book on the career of German tank commander Joachim Senholdt and his unit’s escape from the Halbe Pocket.
START is renowned for its two excellent softback periodical series, Luftwaffe im Focus and U-Boot im Focus. However, it also publishes large, luxurious hardbacks on different military/aviation subjects. They are items to treasure and packed with detail… the fruits of extensive and diligent research by proprietor Axel Urbanke.

The firm’s latest book, a thumping 344-page tome, came about purely by chance but is linked to Urbanke’s previous book, Die Panther-Abteilung “Brandenburg” 1945. A serving German Army officer had read it, and contacted the publisher to inform him that his father had commanded the 2nd Company of that same unit during World War Two, and offered sight of his diary.
