Several decorated samples of Dapol’s newly-tooled ‘O’ gauge Hunslet ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0ST have arrived with the company’s development team for evaluation.
More than 370 of the Robert Riddles designed ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0STs were built between the early 1940s and mid 1960s.
Dapol’s all-new ‘O’ gauge models will feature a die-cast chassis, vertically-mounted five-pole skew wound motor with flywheel, 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket, all-wheel pick-ups, fully working inside motion, firebox glow and sprung metal buffers. Two cab and bunker variations have been tooled, together with two alternate chimneys.
Ten different models are planned covering London and North Eastern Railway black, War Department black, Wemyss Private Railway lined brown, National Coal Board lined green, United Steel lined red, Mech Navvies red, Longmoor Military Railway lined blue, British Railways black and BR black with early and late crests.
Priced at £270 DCC ready, £307.80 DCC fitted and £410.40 DCC sound-fitted, they are expected to be released later this year.
