OFTEN THE HUNTED
The Russian R-17/SS-1C Scud-B is arguably one of the best-known ballistic missiles, yet there are just two 1/72 styrene kits of the type, with Revell’s recent release being a re-boxing of the Toxso offering.
Presented on four styrene runners, with acetate sheet for the windows, it is a well-designed product and includes interior detail for the driver/crew stations and the missile launch cabin. While the latter can be viewed through the glazing, all of these compartments can be displayed thanks to the optional open/closed doors. Component breakdown appears similar to that of Dragon’s larger 1/35 offering, notably the chassis and launch rail mounts, although the cab and launch control sections feature greater refinement.
The Scud-B can be posed either in transit or ready-to-launch and markings are included for North Vietnamese, East German and Iraqi vehicles. For more information, visit: www.revell.de/en
