Input from a group of historians/restorers has enabled Thunder Model to produce a superb LRDG CMP F30 truck… reviewed here by CHRIS CLIFFORD.
The Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) is an enduring and fascinating subject for military modellers. Operating in North Africa during World War Two, the LRDG – arguably the first and most successful irregular formation – was highly skilled at deep reconnaissance and raiding work. If you’re a fan of this unit modelling-wise, you won’t want to miss Thunder Model’s new 1/35 Canadian Military Pattern Ford F30 LRDG truck kit (35304). It’s been produced in partnership with the Long Range Desert Group Preservation Society, so its accuracy is assured. Another benefit of LRDGPS involvement is a bonus eight-page booklet offering period photos, a general overview on the LRDG, plus more specific narrative on the organisation’s use of the Ford F30. Markings and on-board stowage are also explored.
