Dapol has confirmed that it is to upgrade its ‘N' gauge Class 56 Co-Co diesel with new body tooling.
The retooled bodies will enable the company to accurately model the original Romanian and later UK-built machines, with improvements to the body shape, cab roof and windows as well as additional refinements such as etched metal grilles. The project is currently in tooling.
The specification also includes a heavy split-frame chassis, five-pole motor, all-wheel pick-up and drive, directional lights and Next18 Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket.
Seven Class 56 models are planned for this next batch including 56302 in Fastline livery (Cat No. 2D-004-010), 56131 in BR large logo blue (2D-004-011), 56007 in Transrail grey (2D-004-012), 56059 in EWS maroon and gold (2D-004-013), 56303 in DCR green (2D-004-014), 56006 in BR blue (2D-004-015) and 56054 in Railfreight Coal Sector triple grey (2D-004-016).
Priced at £156.60 DCC ready and £188.99 DCC fitted, release is currently slated for the second half of 2024.
