The Italian acrylics specialist has fresh items catering for vehicles and figures.
Lifecolor’s range seems to be blossoming exponentially, but the latest products will find particular favour with military modellers, and those who build civilian vehicles and want to portray them in less-than-pristine condition.
The first item examined here is Compact Dust (SPG08, above), designed to help replicate dust, rain and dirt effects and featuring liquid/dry pigments, acrylic paint and washes in the same package. Included in this set are the following: UA 705 Dust Type 1; UA 738 Deposited Dust; LPW 12 Road Dust; LPW 13 Light Earth; LPW 15 Soot; PG105 Dry Dust. All mediums come in 22ml bottles and this set is especially useful for vehicles from hot and dusty theatres. It costs £18.98
Secondly, there’s Compact Rust (SPG09), which is invaluable for reproducing oxidisation on tanks, trucks cars and the like. Again, you receive six different mediums and they are: UA-703 Rust Light Shadow 1; UA 704 Rust Light Shadow 2; LPW 06 Deep Rust; LPW 08 Eroding Light Rust; LPW 10 Yellow Marks; PG 107 Eroding Burned Rust. There are enough different paint/wash hues and wet/dry pigments here to re-create convincing rust… from delicate to incredibly heavy patinas. This is also priced at £18.98

Figure painters and modellers who incorporate scale people in dioramas, especially in the genre of World War One, should take note of Lifecolor’s set CS59 The Austro-Hungarian Army Uniforms 1916-1918.
