The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway (L&B) Manning Wardle 2-6-2Ts and matching carriages are being made to 7mm scale by Dapol’s Lionheart Trains brand.

The new range was revealed at the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway autumn gala on September 25 2021 and will see the classic 2-6-2T joined by models of the Open Third, Compartment Third, Brake Third and Brake Composite bogie coaches.

Lionheart Trains’ new models will be made to 7mm scale and designed to run on 16.5mm narrow gauge track – the same track gauge as ‘OO’ rolling stock. The 2-6-2T will feature a compensated chassis, die-cast construction for the boiler, tanks and chassis, nickel plated wheels, a five-pole skew wound motor, pull-out PCB with a Next18 decoder socket, tool free DCC and DCC sound installation, working Joy valve gear, firebox glow, working headlamps and suitability for regauging to 14mm gauge track.

The four Manning Wardle engines will be modelled with Exe in as delivered condition with an early cab (Cat No. LHT-7NS-001), Yeo in L&B 1903-1913 livery with an early cab (LHT-7NS-002), Taw in L&B 1913-1924 livery with a later cab (LHT-7NS-003), Exe in 1924-1927 SR livery with a late cab (LHT-7NS-004), Yeo in 1927-1929 SR livery with a late cab (LHT-7NS-005) and Taw in 1930-1931 SR livery with a late cab (LHT-7NS-006).
