SECOND-GEN FIRE SCOUT
While, at first glance, this may appear expensive, it’s a lot of resin – notably the main fuselage, which comes as a single solid component.
GULL-WING GUIDANCE
With new kits from Polish firms IBG Models and Arma Hobby drawing modellers’ attention to the type, the country’s PZL P.11 fighter is a popular subject and MMP books has capitalised with its Yellow Series publication.
LUFTWAFFE SHOOTING STAR
Available previously as two separate volumes, this revised and updated book on the Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet rocket-propelled interceptor packs a wealth of information into its 406 pages.
STEALTHY OFFENDER
Having charted a course through Sukhoi/Mikoyan designs, this volume brings everything bang up to date by analysing and describing Russia’s fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57, known in the West by its NATO nickname of Felon.
FROM INCEPTION TO TODAY
The third part in Casemate’s Middle East@War series is devoted to the 75th anniversary of the Israeli Air Force (which actually occurs in 2023), focusing on training, combat support, special operations, maritime support and air defence platforms.
ARMY SPOTTER
Guideline’s Warpaint Series goes from strength to strength and while many subjects can be considered mainstream, its 131st volume examines the Auster family of liaison and scout aircraft.
FIGHTING OVER RABAUL
Certain aspects of the Pacific air campaign during World War Two seem to garner more attention than others, but operations over New Guinea, and notably the battles for/over Rabaul, seem to escape attention.
NAVAL WORKHORSES
Modellers wanting to focus on British World War Two sloops and frigates would do well to consider the 27th volume in the successful Shipcraft series, which is dedicated to these two ship types.
EDUARD’S BOHEMIAN TRAINER… THE Z-226
Czech firm Eduard has kitted many famous aircraft, but it's new 1/48 Zlín Z-226 Trener is much more esoteric... and a fun alternative to military subjects. And two kits are provided in this limited-edition boxing.
HIKOKI’S COOL BOOK ON TRAINERS
If you like building on a theme, Hikoki's new hardback book on British training aircraft is a worthy reference, and excellent value.
BRENGUN’S NEW QUARTER-SCALE EXTRA
Modellers interested in sports/aerobatic aircraft will love Brengun's new-tool 1/48 Extra EA 300L/330LC, which comes with decals for three colourful airframes.
LEGACY HORNET GUIDEBOOK
Kagero's recent Monograph on the F/A-18 legacy Hornet variants is a splendid reference for anyone wanting to model the type, regardless of scale.
DAZZLING RAFALE SCHEMES
A wealth of stunning special schemes for the Dassault Rafale can be reproduced with Syhart's new 1/48 decal sheets... also available in 1/72!
ITALIAN TORPEDO BOAT RETURNS
The re-issue of Italeri's 1/35 MAS torpedo boat, with new parts, will please many modellers of maritime subjects. It's an imposing subject with decent detail.
ARMA’S STUNNING NEW MUSTANG
1/72 P-51B/C Mustang kits have come and gone, but Arma Hobby's all-new tooling tops the lot in terms of detail and accuracy.
LARGE-SCALE HELLDIVER
A 1/32 scale Curtiss SB2C Helldiver in styrene has been a long time coming, but it's now a reality courtesy of Czech firm Infinity Model.
RE-BADGED MESSERSCHMITT ‘109
Hobbycraft's original 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 tooling has been re-issued by Italeri, with four new colour schemes.
FALKLANDS HERO BUST
Mitches Military Models' recent bust of Sea Harrier pilot Nigel 'Sharkey' Ward is a splendid item for modellers interested in 1982's Falklands conflict.
BORDER’S DESERT CRUISER
Looking to expand your collection of British World War Two armour? Then why not plump for Border Model's excellent 1/35 Crusader Mk.III.
FINE MOLDS’ NEW ‘CHARLIE’ PHANTOM
We've arguably never had it so good in terms of Phantom kits... and Fine Molds' new 1/72 F-4C is a fine example. CHRIS CLIFFORD reviews the contents.
GLOBAL GUNSHIPS
Xtradecal has been inspired by Zvezda’s recent 1/48 Hind helicopter gunship to produce an eclectic collection of markings for the type, although most of these will be suitable for Monogram’s much older offering.
SEIZING THE CANAL
Modelling to a theme can be highly rewarding from an educational perspective, which makes Star Decals’ products – such as this first set covering the Suez Crisis – most welcome.
ELITE DREIDECKERS
Czech firm Eduard has teamed with Chinese company Meng to produce this set of aftermarket decals for the latter’s recent 1/32 Fokker Dr.I triplane, providing typically striking schemes for four Jagdgeschwader I ‘Flying Circus’ aircraft.
PLYING TRADE
Designed for recreating the plywood-skinned construction of World War One-era Albatros fighters, Peewit’s 1/72 wood-pattern decals are also suitable for a range of other applications, such as in buildings or other vehicles.
GULF MEDICINE
With 30 years having passed since the First Gulf War – known to British forces as Operation Granby – kit depictions of the equipment used during the conflict are sure to be popular.
NORTH AFRICAN AIRBUS
Established by controversial businessman Rafik Khalifa, the Algerian firm Khalifa Airlines operated cargo and passenger operations from 1999, famously sponsored football team Olympique de Marseille’s shirts between 2001-03 and was dissolved in July of the latter year. One of its Airbus A320s is the subject of Decales Global’s 1/144 decals.
THE DEVIL'S KITTIES
While Eduard has its own 1/48 Hellcat kits in mind for this lovely decal set, they should fit most same-scale offerings, with just the tail markings for the VF-17 option potentially being an issue (although they could easily be masked and sprayed).
THIRD GUARDS QUARTET
Iliad’s third batch of Air National Guard (ANG) P-51Ds features examples from Wyoming, California, Arizona and Ohio, all of which are clad in natural metal finishes; three airframes are equipped with Hamilton Standard ‘uncuffed’ propellers, while the fourth has a ‘cuffed’ version.
SMALL-SCALE DEVILS
While there aren’t many 1/72 kits of the KTO Rosomak (primarily Tololoko, S&S Models, G3 Resin and Auto Loto Motiv offerings), ToRo Models has produced a set of alternative decals to provide Polish markings for such products.
LAND OF GREATER POLAND
Modellers with large-scale Mossies from either Revell or Tamiya wanting to replicate airframes flown by Polish crews during World War Two will find Model Makers’ well-designed package ideal.
