2023 New Model Guide: ‘OO’ Gauge

2023 promises to be another busy year for new model releases in ‘OO’ as MARK CHIVERS reveals.

If you thought 2022 was an outstanding year for new releases, then prepare yourself as 2023 is shaping up to be equally exciting.

Despite disruptions to the supply chain which continue to affect manufacturers, there has been a steady stream of new releases over the past 12 months. Particular ‘OO’ gauge highlights included Hornby’s all-new BR ‘9F’ 2-10-0, Class 91 electric and the diminutive Liverpool and Manchester Railway (L&MR) Lion 0-4-2, Rails of Sheffield’s North Eastern Railway autocar and ‘ES1’ electric, Dapol’s Class 59 diesel and Accurascale’s Class 55 diesel and Class 92 electric.

There have also been a few more models announced after the last survey which have since been released, such as Hornby’s ‘OO’ gauge model of the L&MR’s Tiger and Bachmann’s all-new Class 37 diesel.

This year’s survey boasts 73 locomotive and multiple unit projects and 76 rolling stock items. 52 motive power projects are slated for completion before the end of the year, while 71 of the rolling stock items are expected to appear in 2023.
