Dapol 'O' gauge 66 - First look
Dapol has received the first mouldings from the tooling of its all-new 7mm scale Class 66 Co-Co diesel for evaluation, ahead of a full Engineering Prototype (EP) sample later this summer.
Six standard models are planned in the first batch, together with a series of specially-commissioned models too (see table 1). The extensive tooling suite includes two body styles for standard and low-emission examples together with ventilation and weld detail variations, alternative cab windows, headlight types, horn grilles, lamp styles, fuel tanks, early and late sand box styles and much more.
The specification also includes a heavy diecast chassis, twin motors, 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder sockets, independently controlled directional lighting (DCC – switch control via DC), cab lights, illuminated cab control panel, etched grilles, cab mirrors and aerials (as appropriate).
Prices for standard releases are set at £325 DCC ready, £355 DCC fitted and £475 DCC sound-fitted.
