Speaker upgrade for the Accurascale ‘Manor’

Accurascale’s GWR ‘Manor’ 4-6-0 is a superb model, but it left room for improvement in the speaker setup. MIKE WILD shows how he fitted Locoman Sounds’ latest profile for these two-cylinder locomotives together with a speaker upgrade.

We have been well served with factory sound fitted models recently with manufacturers installing better quality speakers and ever more comprehensive sound profiles.

Accurascale in particular has been leading the charge on factory sound installations with its diesel locomotives, but to our ears the new GWR ‘Manor’ 4-6-0 left a little room for improvement which we were keen to exploit.

The factory fitted sound for this finely produced 4-6-0 didn’t feel like it had the same depth as the diesel sounds and the speaker setup was too quiet for our liking. We’d already requested the new sound profile from Locoman Sounds for the GWR ‘Manor’ in advance of the new model’s arrival, having had excellent results with the sound producer’s profiles in previous steam locomotives. However, on arrival of the model we were looking for a means to upgrade the speakers and it was a post by Roads and Rails on its social media channels which showed the way forward.
