Revolution Trains’ next newly-tooled ‘N’ gauge locomotive will be a Class 66 Co-Co diesel. Read the full story here and watch our exclusive interview with Ben Ando and Mike Hale from Revolution Trains.
As with the prototype, Revolution Trains’ all-new ‘N’ gauge Class 66 is a development of the Class 59 Co-Co diesel, which is currently in production. However, unlike previous Revolution Trains projects, the Class 66 is not dependent on pre-orders with tooling now complete and working Engineering Prototype (EP) samples currently under evaluation.
The company has developed 15 CAD variations that will enable all varieties of Class 66 diesels to be produced over time, including the European imports.
Initially a selection of standard (tier one) and low emission (tier two) examples will form the first batch of releases, finished as (tier one) 66083 in EWS maroon and gold, 66128 in DB red, 66538 in Freightliner green and yellow, 66704 in original GB Railfreight (GBRf) form, 66795 in GBRf livery, 66404 in Direct Rail Services ‘Compass’ livery and 66848 in Colas Rail Freight colours.
Tier two models include 66720 Wascosa in GBRf colours, 66623 in Freightliner Genesee & Wyoming orange, 66303 in DRS plain blue and 66752 in GBRf Europorte livery. Several retailer exclusive models are also set to be added to the release schedule.
In addition, the company has also launched Revolution Bespoke, where for a small supplement customers can choose their own choice of running number on popular colour schemes.
Standard model prices are set at £159.95 for DCC ready models and £254.95 for DCC sound-fitted examples, with an early bird discount available through the Revolution Trains website. Release is currently anticipated during summer 2024.
